act 1
dance artist
My dance life began at the Brattleboro School of Dance in Southern Vermont. Early accolades included Summer training at Burklyn Ballet Theatre (childhood), and Dance Theatre of Harlem (high school, full scholarship). University of the Arts, BFA, Promising Artist Award.
Former professional dance artist in and around NYC, most often seen performing with Edisa Weeks/Delirious Dances, and the Artichoke Dance Company. Artist in residence at OMI Dance International, and the CAMAC Center D'Art in France. Concurrent with my MFA studies at the University of Michigan, I performed and co-produced a digital dance series with UnderOneDances, a partnership that built platforms for dance artists to engage an audience before, during and after the performance.
act 2
MFA, university of michigan
While working as a dance artist in NYC, it became increasingly clear that the larger dance community was falling short in their use of digital media to reach and engage with current and future audiences. As a Rackham Merit Fellow at the University of Michigan, my work focused on ways that dance artists could use digital and social media as more than marketing for a performance; my research was embedded in personal praxis and written theory. I was invited to present my paper Social Media; as a new paradigm for dance making at the International Joint Conference in Dance Research/Society of Dance History Scholars in Trondheim, Norway. This work was at the early advent of Instagram and well before tiktok germinated themselves as cultural touchstones.
act 3
copywriter + editor
Freelance copywriter and editor who is happy to join a project midstream or as architect.
Adept at matching existing tone + brand voice when joining a project, or finding and creating brand identity as needed. As a supporting writer (…dare I say ghost), or as an editor for large(r) scale projects, I specialize in helping the writer find their actual thesis (those things love to hide in the middle).
Writing work includes internal and client facing marketing copy (websites, campaigns, product), director’s treatments, scholarly research papers + presentations.
Committed to writing for clarity and will always use a red pen upon your fluff.
